Andrew Miguel Fuller

Born in Quito, Ecuador, Andrew Miguel Fuller currently splits his time between Oakland, CA and Antarctica. Raised over both North and South America, his work reflects the dreamlike experience of the outsider in his own country. Holding a degree in the study of Society and Environment, his artwork often poses questions of the psychological distance between the human animal and the larger planet on which we live.

How much can we learn about another’s life from the outside? If we live in close physical contact with an object for decades at a time, is any part of us or our life captured in that thing once we relinquish it? This reproduction of a 1970s-era Eureka vacuum cleaner, abandoned in 2018, captures the physical wear and marks from decades of intimate connection to some unknown person or family and their home, along with a whole host of new markings that come from the casting and creation of this artwork. How much of the essence of the original thing is lost when the copy is made?
